Daniel DiLizia is an Associate in Selman Breitman’s Los Angeles office and is a member of the firm’s Insurance practice group. He represents insurance companies in coverage disputes, including cases arising out of construction defect matters.  Dan’s clients include insurance companies involved in complex, multi-party litigation. In addition, he represents clients in contractual and extracontractual disputes, and has undertaken numerous coverage and exposure analyses. He also has experience in representing insurance companies in disputes that involve complex bad faith litigation.

Dan has extensive experience in Insurance, including handling cases from pre-litigation through trial, which enables him to investigate claims and evaluate complex coverage issues to provide practical advice to his clients. He is a problem solver who works closely with his clients to provide them with coverage analyses and opinions for a wide range of factual scenarios.

Dan also has prior experience defending insureds and insurance companies in tort, contract, and bad faith disputes. He has significant motion practice experience, including preparing dispositive and pre-trial motions. He has considerable experience taking the depositions of opposing parties, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses. Dan has also prepared and defended his clients and experts in numerous depositions. He has also represented clients in hundreds of mediations and has obtained favorable results on behalf of his clients.

While working towards his J.D. at the University of Tulsa College of Law, Dan worked as a judicial intern for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma, worked in-house for a large hospital system, and clerked for both a plaintiff’s firm and a defense firm. Dan also spent time mentoring incoming law students, served as the Membership Chair of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society, and served as the Production Editor of the Tulsa Law Review. He earned his B.S. degree in Management from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.

Dan grew up in Denver, Colorado. When not helping clients with their legal needs, he spends time with his family, cooking, supporting all Colorado professional sports teams, and coaching youth basketball.
