Selman Breitman Adds Cyber Law and Employment Partner in Expanding Portland Office
Selman Breitman LLP welcomes Simone McCormick as a Partner in its Portland and San Francisco offices.
Simone brings with her a thriving practice in the areas of Cyber Law and Employment. She has extensive experience representing businesses and professionals in commercial litigation, professional liability, privacy, and employment matters, in state and federal courts, as well as in administrative proceedings. Most recently, Simone was a Director at Murphy, Pearson, Bradley & Feeney.
Simone has represented clients in a broad range of employment matters, including claims for discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination and whistleblowing, as well as wage and hour claims (rest-breaks, overtime, exemption classification, independent contractor/employee). She routinely advises employers on employee matters including policies/procedures, disciplinary actions, hiring, and termination. Simone also assists clients in contractual matters, preparation of specifically tailored policies, procedures, Business Associate Agreements, and handbooks; and she conducts internal audits, trainings, and investigations.
Simone holds the ANSI-accredited Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) designation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and has represented clients in cases involving data incidents, including forensic investigations, and notifications to affected clients and governmental entities. She regularly advises clients on best practices for information privacy and data security and risk assessment, and conducts management/employee training on how to counter and respond to cyber threats and incidents. Additionally, Simone handles contractual matters, prepares policies, procedures and handbooks, and conducts internal audits, training, and investigations.

Simone earned her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law. Fluent in German, she holds a Teaching Degree in Germany, and an M.A. (Magistra Artium) in English Philology from Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel, Germany.
