Dana J. NitzOf Counsel
Dana Nitz is Of Counsel in Selman Breitman's Las Vegas office, a member of the General Liability, Toxic Tort/Environmental, Appellate, and Insurance practice groups.
He has more than 38 years of experience handling matters involving defense of personal injury, property damage, and products liability (including asbestos) claims, general business, mortgage-related matters, title litigation, construction contract and construction defect, insurance coverage and bad faith, and more. Dana has significant trial experience before state and federal courts on both the trial and appellate levels, and has presented numerous arguments before the Nevada Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.
Prior to joining Selman Breitman, Dana was Managing Partner of Wright, Finlay & Zak, LLP, carrying a full case load and managing the operations of the Nevada office, including oversight and training for nearly 30 attorneys. As Partner, he supervised lawyers, developed case strategy, and provided oversight for all appellate practice.
He has served as a court-appointed and private arbitrator on hundreds of matters involving contract disputes, surety, personal injury, property damage, products liability, and professional malpractice. Since 1999 he has served as a Nevada Supreme Court Settlement Judge and mediator.
Dana earned his J.D. from USC Gould School of Law, and a B.S. in Mathematics from Harvey Mudd College. When not assisting clients with their legal needs, he spends time with his wife and three children and pursues his interests in road cycling, woodworking, home handyman, and audiobooks.
